The Ones

Every morning you need to wake yourself up before the alarm clock does.

Not your body.

Not your schedule.

Not your responsibilities.

You.

The version of you that forgets.

The version that gets tired.

The version that wakes up sore, frustrated, discouraged, and wondering if all this effort is actually going anywhere.

That version needs a reminder.

You are the one.

You may not feel like it today.

Your body may be slow.

Your back may ache.

Your knees may be talking louder than your confidence.

Life may not look the way you imagined it would by now.

The bank account may not be where you want it.

The relationship may not be where you want it.

The dream may still be under construction.

But you are still the one.

Sometimes people think being “the one” means standing on top of the mountain.

It doesn’t.

Sometimes being the one means climbing the mountain while carrying everyone else’s baggage.

Sometimes it means showing up when nobody is clapping.

Sometimes it means putting one foot in front of the other while your entire soul is asking for a nap.

Sometimes it means rising before you have risen.

That is where most people quit.

Right there.

In the middle.

Not at the bottom.

Not at the top.

In the middle.

The uncomfortable place where nothing looks finished and everything still feels uncertain.

That is where you remind yourself:

I am the one.

You better remind the enemy too.

Not the enemy outside.

The enemy inside.

The doubt.

The fear.

The hesitation.

The voice that says maybe you’re not enough.

The voice that says maybe it’s too late.

The voice that says maybe somebody else deserves it more.

Tell that voice to sit down.

The sun already set you free.

You survived things that should have broken you.

You walked through seasons that would have made other people surrender.

You kept going when nobody knew how hard it was.

You may smell like defeat.

You may look exhausted.

You may be crawling instead of running.

But you’re still one of the ones.

The ones who get back up.

The ones who adapt.

The ones who refuse to stay buried.

The ones who refuse to become victims of their own story.

You have been nice to nasty people.

You have extended grace to people who deserved consequences.

You held it down for people who would not have lifted a finger for you.

You carried conversations.

You carried relationships.

You carried teams.

You carried responsibilities.

You carried expectations.

You carried people who swore they were carrying you.

And what did you get?

A smile to your face.

A knife to your back.

And somehow a bill handed to you like you owed them something.

Funny how that works.

Some people will stand on your shoulders and then complain about the view.

Let them.

You didn’t do it for the applause.

You did it because that’s who you are.

You showed up.

Even when they didn’t.

You answered the call.

Even when yours went unanswered.

You opened doors.

Even when nobody opened one for you.

Which brings me to the best part.

The next season isn’t about a door.

It’s about doors.

Plural.

Because abundance never arrives alone.

The opportunities are coming in bunches.

The blessings are coming in bunches.

The connections are coming in bunches.

The growth is coming in bunches.

The money?

Monies.

Plural.

The opportunities?

Opportunities.

Plural.

The doors?

Doors.

Plural.

There are S’s attached to your future.

Not because life owes you anything.

Because you’ve already paid for it.

With discipline.

With sacrifice.

With heartbreak.

With consistency.

With lonely mornings.

With long nights.

With tears nobody saw.

With work nobody applauded.

You paid the invoice already.

Now the delivery truck is finally on the way.

Wake up and remember who you are.

This is your season.

You earned this.

Nobody handed it to you.

Nobody gifted it to you.

Nobody carried you here.

No one can question your work ethic.

No one can question your resilience.

No one can question the miles you’ve walked in shoes they couldn’t survive a day in.

You built this.

Brick by brick.

Decision by decision.

Failure by failure.

Lesson by lesson.

Scar by scar.

You got you where you got.

And if you got yourself this far, imagine what happens next.

So tomorrow morning when the alarm goes off and life starts making demands before you’ve had your first cup of coffee, look in the mirror.

Not for validation.

Not for permission.

For recognition.

Look yourself dead in the eyes and say:

I am the one.

I have always been the one.

And I’m just getting started.
