Sometimes you have to be sorry not sorry.
There is a strange grief that comes with being alive in your own skin for the first time. You feel robbed of years of your life. Years spent negotiating with yourself. Years spent becoming smaller so other people could remain comfortable. Years spent asking permission from people who were never going to understand what you were trying to become.
Why doesn’t anyone tell you that freedom comes with mourning?
You can be grateful for the person you have become and still grieve the years it took to find her.
But there is no reward in this life without risk.
And sometimes you have to risk it all.
Not your house. Not your money. Not everything you love.
The things that actually need to be placed on the sacrificial table are much harder to surrender.
The bad habits. The old identities. The need to be understood. The addiction to approval. The familiar misery. The voices you have carried for so long that you have mistaken them for your own.
Put them down.
There is a certain magic in deciding where you are going and refusing to look away.
Head down.
Eyes forward.
Intention fixed.
The outside world will always make noise. People will question you. Some will laugh. Some will whisper. Some will wait patiently for you to fail because your courage makes their own hesitation uncomfortable.
Let them wait.
There are people who get things done, and there are people who talk about the people getting things done.
Be the one they talk about.
Be the one person in the room crazy enough to believe that the life calling to you is worth the inconvenience of becoming someone capable of living it.
More importantly, become the person you admire.
Your life should be your story.
You can document it. You can create it. You can write beautiful things about courage, freedom, transformation, magic and becoming, but eventually the pen has to leave the page.
The writer has to live what they writes.
So ask yourself:
Are you walking in your own truth?
Are you speaking from it?
Or are you still repeating the warnings of every naysayer who was too frightened to follow their own?
There is one piece of information you need.
You are in control of your own life.
That includes your destiny.
Not every circumstance. Not every loss. Not every unexpected hand the universe places before you. But what you choose to do with them belongs entirely to you.
That is where the magic lives.
Intention without action is only wishing.
So be relentless with yours.
Build the thing.
Write the book.
Leave the place that has already taught you everything it came to teach you.
Walk toward whatever keeps appearing in your mind when the world becomes quiet.
Risk being misunderstood.
Risk changing.
Risk becoming unrecognizable to the version of you who once settled for less.
Because eventually, every person stands before an altar of their own making.
On it are all the things they wanted, all the things they feared, all the chances they took, and all the ones they let die waiting for permission.
There is no audience there.
No applause.
No one left to blame.
Only you and the life you created.
And when you are standing at the altar, everything counts.
